On the occasion of the 7th Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Annual Meeting, UNESCO Office Jakarta officially launched the UNESCO Publication on Climate Change Education for Asia Pacific Small Island Developing States.

The publication is a resource material developed for use by teachers at all levels and it focuses on raising awareness of climate change through education in achieving sustainable development. The said publication envisaged to equip and enhance teachers with pedagogical skills and knowledge on climate change. It also highlights the impacts of climate change on the communities and recommended mitigating measures through teaching module and implementing a participatory teaching approach that actively involves students.

H.E. Ambassador of Malaysia to Timor-Leste Ms. Chitra Devi V. Ramiah officially launched the publication. The launching was witnessed by the Ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, the Philippines to Timor-Leste. Also present to the launching is the Director General of Ministry of Education, Timor-Leste, representatives from cluster countries and various stakeholders. UNESCO Jakarta Office Director and Representative made an introductory presentation before the launching.

This resource material was published by UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia, and the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This publication is supported by Malaysia Funds-in-Trust.
