UNESCO and Malaysia Meet to Review Projects Supported Through the MUCP

A one and half day meeting was held at the Bangkok Marriott Sukhumvit Hotel, Thailand from 21-22 July 2017 to review the status of current and the newly ended projects including Mid-Term External Evaluation of the Malaysia-UNESCO Cooperation Programme (MUCP). The meeting also discussed amongst others criteria for scaling-up of current projects linking Asia Pacific and Africa, preparation for the Final External Evaluation as well as promoting the visibility of MUCP.

The 6th MUCP/MFIT Steering Committee Meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Mohd Khairul Adib Abd. Rahman, outgoing Secretary General, Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO and representative from UNESCO, Dr. Shahbaz Khan, Director of UNESCO Jakarta. The composition of the Steering Committee includes Mr. Mohamed Djelid, Deputy Director, BSP and Ms Maki Hayashikawa, Officer-in-Charge, UNESCO Bangkok.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Khairol Hazlan Hamzah (Malaysian NATCOM), Ms Jessica Jeavons (HQ), Ms Jun Morohashi (BGK), Ms Ai Sugiura (JAK) and Ms Sharizad Sulaiman (JAK) while the Permanent Delegation and colleagues from the field were connected via Skype.

UNESCO Jakarta Office presented copies of MUCP supported publications to the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO and UNESCO colleagues. A range of other relevant publications are available for download from the MUCP-MFIT website.

The meeting concluded with high note of assurances from both parties to further deepen the cooperation, partnership and mutual support for the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals through South-South Cooperation.
